I drew a game i was winning

i was trying rook mate so i sacrifised a knight queen and rook

There are 2 main strategies when it comes to the rook checkmate.

1. Put the rook on the line between the two kings, make sure the opponent's king walks in front of yours and then move your rook forwards. You can use the rook to gain a tempo. When the enemy king is in front of yours, move your rook one line towards them. Repeat until checkmate.

2. (faster and more complicated) Box the opponent in using your rook and keep making the box smaller, until you see a way to checkmate.

i know you tried to get a rook mate, but just getting your queen taken hurts to watch

Why was it a draw? Your opponent didn't take the rook.
Edit: I know now it's three-hold. (You can't have the same position 3 times)

@Yalturkmani: Because the same position got repeated three times: on move 67, move 71 and move 73.
