Few small observations I made playing OTB chess

I only just realised this was two years old

I only just realised this was two years old

Idk why I got recommended this post, but I'll engage with it. 1.) true, however, for me, I dread being placed at the board which is directly UNDER air conditioning vent. It happened to me on two separate tournaments. Outside it's scorching hot, I forgot to take into account that inside will be airconditioned. I arrive at the tournament hall, already feeling a bit chilly. Then I proceed to die for 3-4 hours freezing my ass off while trying to keep my concentration at bay. My fault though, but I'd be cold anyway even if I had a hoodie.
2.) In general I hate when players look at me on my turn while I am thinking. I hate when older players do that, but even more so when children do it and children do it much more frequently for some reason -- maybe trying to gauge the opponents mental state or just trying to hype themselves up or intimidate me? Not sure. I usually try NOT to engage and let it pass, but sometimes when I am particularly stressed I assume they are trying to intimidate me and it starts to be very annoying so I engage back and posture a bit as if to say that I won't be intimidated and that you can now look away and focus on yourself. Only once I have uttered words to my opponent: "what?". Not my proudest moment. As for children, I try to be friendly and kind, but beat the shit out of the on the board, which I manage to do 99% of the time, only losing once to a 12-13 yo. HAHA! TAKE THAT. Yes, I am proud of this feat. These days everyone is good, though.
3.) Yeah, some people can be really kind after game, makes me feel good that we lived the stressful moments together and there was no bad feelings afterwards.

if it is scorching hot and you are playing a rapid tournament in my place, you're unfathomably cooked

Rather than slamming the piece down, I play tactics with a completely neutral expression on my face. Hilarious.
