If the trophy were awarded only for top-10 finishes, it would be extremely difficult to replicate, but anyone capable of reaching the top 500 can cover their nickname with globes. I don't know if there are any such people right now, but it's definitely a matter of time.

First of all, getting top 500 is already a hard challenge, especially with there being over 20000 people playing in each one, and top 10 is among the top players in lichess. He also holds 3 top 100 trophies. To answer your legendary status question. It’s just to say he is an amazing person and will continue to thrive.

In reality, there are no more than 3,000 actual participants. If you check the past marathon, you'll see this (enter the desired number into the marathon search engine and press enter; this won't work on a phone). But the 500 participants who regularly qualify can earn at least three of the four globes a year. The globes are accumulating now. At some point, they'll start overlapping with nicknames. Should we wait for that moment, instead of changing the display now, when there are already cases? Well, that seems strange to me.

500 is still too big a range to allow those who are capable of it to get there regularly.
Well, one instance is enough for me. Just out of curiosity, how many accounts like this would you need to have before it becomes a reason to make changes?
