What is the ponit of a topic like this? Anyways my choice usually is e4 and sometimes I start with Nf3.

e4 of course it is best by test!

I am amazed at how rare it is for anyone to play 1.c4 (at least up to my current rating). It is more frequent 1.g4 or 1.b4 than 1.c4! Amazing, no?

Yes and no. Best in my humble opinion is the famous Karlsen opening, which is considered by many top grand masters as one of the strongest openings. It gives, according to the best engines, an advantage of plus one in all the lines. Mastering such an opening is though considered a very difficult task, even among the top grand master of the world.

After 25 years 1.e4 is dead for me. I prefer closed games successfully now.

No wonder there’s a new saying: c4 is the new e4.

e4, d4, Nf3 or c4 are equally good in my opinion, just a matter of preferance, I like c4 becouse people usually dont prepare against it that much since they dont face it to often..

C4, though I'm going to start playing Nf3, then c4 to prevent the 4 knights variation
