Question about Ebooks on ipad

Hello everyone,
I have the following question and I hope someone on here can help me with it.

In my chess studying carreer up till now, I mostly studied tactics books. These kinds of books can usually be studied without an extra board, so it didn't bother me at all to read them in a paper format. However, I feel I have now come to a point where I need to read other kinds of chess books as well (endgame, strategy, game collections etc.) . These books are much easier to study with a playing board next to them, or, in an ebook format on a tablet. Since, I like to study chess on my daily commute to work, I opt for the latter. In the app store are quite some chess viewers available, usually connected to the catalog of some publisher.

Now, I wonder: Is there some generic solution available when it comes to ebooks? I mean, downloading and storing an ebook on one particular device and view them with one particular viewer, I can do, but rather, I would like to store and read my ebooks on different devices ( especially future ones) as well, if possible with different operating systems than IOs, and read them with any generic viewer that's available.
Any advice ?

Thanks a lot in advance
Thecombinator and amadan, thanks for your reply! Both apps i tried, and I like the interface that forward chess offers, but not quite sure how easy it is to share books between devices, especially between an Apple and non IOS device. The Chess book study app is easy to use when it comes to that. Just drag and drop the ebook via itunes.
Again, thanks for the advice! However, at the moment, im trying the Asim Perreira app, and I like it a lot. Guess that comes close to what im searching for.
The Chess book study by Asim Pereira looks like a fantastic app... But it runs on Android only.
Does anyone know of an equivalent for IOS?
Hi hauteepoque, i've got the app running on my android phone and on my iPad. It can be found in the Apple app store by searching on the words "chess book study"
Thanks for checking this, Blundersgalore, I just downloaded it, and purchased the full version.
Have you imported an e-book yet?
