I have a suggestion to help combat cheating on lichess.
Once a player is identified as a cheater, lichess should send him some chess bots that would pretend to be human players. That way the cheater will be kept busy for much longer. The cheater would be cheated and maybe he would spend months playing against engines only.
I think that's a fair and elegant solution. Make the cheater play only against engines; let him be happy indefinitely while we, real chess players, can play real chess without those annoying cheaters.
I'm a programmer and I know that can be done. You can even make the bots chat from time to time. If programmed the right way, the bot can play similarly to a real person. Let the cheater win some games so that he won't suspect anything. I know it might sound a bit extreme but cheating is growing rapidly and sooner or later sites like lichess will have to come up with new and more efficient solutions. Cheating is getting ridiculously frequent and it's high time to think about new solutions.
