He's talking about his son i believe, because the son in the picture is his father's only son (himself)
100 prisoners are in a prison. Each prisoner is given a unique number from 1 to 100. There’s a room with 100 boxes, each containing a number from 1 to 100 (randomly placed). One by one, each prisoner may enter the room and open up to 50 boxes, trying to find the box with their own number. After each prisoner, all boxes are closed again.
If every prisoner finds their own number, they all go free. If even one fails, they all die.
They can discuss a strategy beforehand
