I've been learning Jeremy Silman's Imbalance theory for a while and have been putting it in my game but I lost a game that i thought I should have won, how could have i done better?
http://en.lichess.org/MyWQi3LOUhcWin this second game I won using the imbalance concept and i won crushingly how come I lost the first game i showed you all.
http://en.lichess.org/MyWQi3LOUhcWthe games are the same...
You played e4 and blundered your entire position.
oh oops this is the second game where i won very well using the imbalance concept
http://en.lichess.org/7VSGvbOwDxqVwell what could have i done better? in the first game that i put up there?
Don't play pawn breaks unless they have a purpose. They can vastly change a position. E4 lost you the game and it rapidly declined from there.
ok, i played e4 because i really didn't think i had any play on the queenside
The engine is right there. Look at what it says after the opening. This site is great for learning and you can figure it out. "Having play" doesnt necessarily mean attacking, it can just mean putting your pieces on better squares. Infact sometimes as black (or white) we even make waiting moves. Aggression can sometimes be a positive or a negative.
