About Carlsen's Future

We understand that Carlsen is a genius and the strongest player today. But currently there is no 'secret information'.

All of these great players have a well-prepared team that will evaluate Carlsen's methods and identify ways to counteract their game. What Carlsen did this year can't be repeated forever, probably his way of playing has already been neutralized! When Carlsen runs out of resources he will become just one more in the crowd (ok, this crowd is much smaller than the word, maybe 3 or 4 players!).

Unlike poker, chess is a complete information game. A novelty works only once! In addition, Carlsen's biological abilities (mental stamina) tend to decrease geometrically now that he is already reaching 30yo.

In about 5 years we will have Carlsen losing his hegemony. With luck he will not give up chess. However, he had already commented that if he had lost to Karjakin he would not try again! I believe Carlsen wouldn't keep playing without being in the top five at least! But it's just a subjective guess based on his personality.
To be fair MC is still a few years away from 30yo.

No idea why people are panicking. He has been winning everything. Finishing second in one tournament on tiebreaks isn't really anything to worry about.
Kasparov was a champion from 1985-2000 up untill he hit age 37, so i think you are very wrong
@lovlas Exactly. Magnus is no way at the end of his career. Loosing a tiebreak, give me a break, is not something to make such a fuzz about. Of course the other players will analyse his games and his playing style in order to defeat him. But his ability to calculate and his playing strength is by any way surpassed by any other player of today. But all champions through history have lost a match and so will Magnus one day. But I don´ t think he has peaked yet, cause all the great masters have all peaked around the age of 35 so we can probably expect more from Magnus in the years to come.
@Andrej19 Notice that Kasparovs peak rating 2851 was reached when he was 36 years. In 7 years Magnus will turn 36 and he is already rated 2882 and can still increase his rating, so it is possible that he will be the first in history to reach 2900. If he does that he will make history.
I am considering the evolution of chess and the human being. Today chess players are high performance athletes. This is also happening in football. Never have physical / biological qualities been as important in chess as in our present age. As I said, my guess is partly because of this, but partly because of Carlsen's own personality too.
"With luck he will not give up chess"
Does he have a secondary profession? I can't imagine someone stopping to play chess when they can make a good living out of it. Not just a living, but a good living. One would have to be batshit crazy.
