Swiss Tournaments when Lichess goes down

When Lichess goes down, the Code for swiss tournaments doesn't notice.
It stupidly assigns timeout wins for all black players and goes on to pair the next round.
As a result (in lichess-swiss tournaments) a lot of players get 24-hour bans.
Could this please be fixed? That is hopefully not too hard.

When lichess goes down, obviously no code at all is executed. That is the meaning of being down.

Sorry sheckley666, but thats wrong. You can check what happened to the tournaments when the server is back. The code for the tournaments is either somewhere else or just continues running, only its not not getting any game results anymore.

I guess this is the tournament you have in mind, of one of the tournaments?

Yes, all games in round six seem to have been won by one of the players without playing.

The situation at that time was, of course, exceptional. https://lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/a-database-disaster I'm not sure anything quite like it occurs often enough for any particular safeguards to be necessary. (I may well be wrong though.)

Not so very long ago Lichess was down for a whole day or so.
Anyway, I just think the tournament code checking now and then if the database is available can't be that difficult.
Or at least they could remove all the 24-hour-bans after such an incident.

Anyone getting a 24-hour play ban has been persistently offending. Warnings are given initially for timing out unreasonably or failing to start a game, and if the player continues to offend then initial play bans are very short, something like 10 minutes.

Github coding takes a while and I dont know if this could be change Lichess should focus on keeping the server running for now .

Brian, what I mean is a 24-hour-ban for swiss tournaments. Maybe I wasn't clear about that. Which you get for failing to play one game. Which is ok with me, my point is everybody playing a swiss tournament at that time got that ban for failing to play games they couldn't play because the server was down.
