I would prefer the houses. Because you have a retirement plan there and it can be passed to the next generations. And you can help people as well. With the „bucks“ you can „do nothing“. There are no worth, they are „bucks“.

Depends on the worth of the houses and the surroundings.

A small house in my area cost 1 million euro at least. Why should you take 1 million dollar/euros? That makes no sense. 10 houses and you have a better lifestyle for the rest of your life than a guy who has 1 million euro/dollar.
