Is There Any Benefit To Reporting Cheaters

@AndEweBar The benefit comes from suspecting a cheat, then investigating and then reporting and ultimately getting them banned. Of course they can sign up under a different account and start another cheating journey up the rating ladder again. However, their fun is beating higher ranked players that don't suspect anything. The "dupers delight", doesn't come from beating lower ranked opponents, at say the starting rating of 1500. The cheaters glee comes from his perception of the pain he causes the cheated player of a much higher rating. Of course this is just my theory. And I don't care so much about the lost rating points. The game for me is catching them, then messaging them and telling them I'm about to report them. And then giving them an opportunity to admit their cheating. Which nobody ever does, btw. In fact they often show indignant behavior , which I find hilarious and worth my time.
@AndEweBar And another thing I've noticed is that cheaters will often go overboard with cheating, to see if anyone is paying attention, which a lot are not. They will sometimes post their games in forums, almost challenging mods to catch them. Sometimes it will be several hours before anyone bothers to check up on players bragging about beating high ranked opponents and observe the cheating red flags, which I don't need to repeat here. And also, you find cheaters here in the forums that are an apologist and cautioning players about reporting cheaters, or public shaming. They protest too much me thinks. However if you are playing someone and your gut instincts tell you that you are being cheated. Then after a thorough investigation and evidence that you feel could hang the defendant, then present it to the experts. That said, you shouldn't be just reporting people because they are lower rated and seem to have found the best moves after dropping pieces and blundering up a storm. Which I admit have done more than once.

great way of getting yourself banned as well.

anyway, the point of reporting suspected cheaters is so nobody else has to play them. if everyone just blocked players they suspected of cheating, nobody would get reported, and nobody would get banned. so it's a lot about helping out others.
Bro,
I received a notification that I lost to a cheater and refunded 7 rating points....which never reflected into my rating. Plz help.
So how the hell can you conclusively prove people are cheating? it’s hard enough for computers with sophisticated algorithms to work out. Seems like there is a sore loser here!
It's odd that there are no resources, tips, advice on spotting typical methods for cheating.

Nothing is certain and it would be for lichess themselves to decide.

It is still down a lot to the community to report odd occurences. The counter argument is that listing typical methods for cheating, might lead to a rise in cheating?

But advice for members to spot people cheating might help.

Lets just say as a generally average player it is odd if someone shows up and picks/selects my game to spectate.

Still after getting confirmation from lichess that they did ban the player I reported. That it is still a game in my history that I lost and lost rating for.
