I have played an embarrassingly large number of games here. I have posted thousands of times. Perhaps I need a 12-step program to di-Lichess myself.
Fat chance. Lichess is a necessary part of life.
But now, despite the fact that I'm not titled, I would like to create a second or "alt" account in a different name.
Why? Because (some may snicker -- but it's true) I tutor youngsters in chess. Obviously, I don't tutor young masters or even experts -- there are others, better suited than I, to do that. And I do not charge for my help. And, modest player though I am, I'm good enough to help most who are just starting out.
After all, long ago I ran a chess club at a local school and I have a fair amount of experience teaching youngsters the basics -- like what "development" means and how NOT to behave like a chimp at the chessboard.
Indeed, I would like to bring tutored youngsters onto Lichess and play against them, or watch them play others or among themselves, in that fashion, but -- to do that -- I do not wish to use my ordinary account name. I believe in keeping my away-from-chess opinions separate from youngsters that I work with. I don't try to influence kids with my political or religious opinions -- that is their parents' right and business, not mine, I think.
So -- is it technically permissible to have and use for teaching and perhaps tournament or "team" play a second account -- in a different name (but sharing the same internet and e-mail) so long as I don't do something silly and potentially underhanded like try to play against my OTHER account?
Or must I close my current account and start again if I want to do that. That would be a pity, since I've gotten rather fond of the flapless community of which I am the only member.
Thanks for any dependable, official answer I receive. If there is an official answer already posted somewhere by Lichess I apologize for wasting anyone's time with this inquiry.
