@mdinnerspace i know this is not a fair argument ( yourlogicalfallacyis.com/burden-of-proof ) but give one example in practice where one could enforce a mate against more than pawns with just a knight or a bishop left.
You are right that, should it ever happen on Lichess, then that would be unfair, but it is a pragmatical solution. I am sure it would happen so rarely (has never happened in any game in my huge database for example), maybe once in five years at lichess, that some admin could as well in that case fix the result of the game. For this one game we will have thousands and thousands of games which now get the in my opinion fair result, draw. As said, chess.com does it this way and ICC and i guess others do so too. Your argument is valid but very very very theoretical. So theoretical that i believe we could make an exception for those cases where one has just knight or bishop left. (except, as i mentioned, cases where the other dude has just pawns.)
