Why are forums so dead?

#1 I can only speak for myself, some forum-posters posts, and some friends, so I might be wrong here, but does anyone else feel like forums are dying?
#2 I've heard that many well-known forum posters have left lichess somewhat recently, so maybe that's why?
#3 But is that the only reason? Are there other reasons as well? If so, what do you think they are?
#4 I'm sad the forums are this way. They used to be very alive and filled with different stuff to post in. Now, they seem so life-less.
#5 What do you think we should do?
What do you think the forums need? Long rambles? Short stuff? Random stuff? Or something else?
#6 I'm almost never in game analysis and lichess feed-back, so I don't know about them.
But I've heard that game analysis died when you-know-who got chat-banned, so I assume that game analysis has gotten even worse since general chess discussion and off-topic discussion seem pretty down.
(Side-note: Not doing so well while writing this, so if it sucks then I have an excuse hehe)
But in recent I feel them coming back to life.
but ya maybe it used to be more fun earlier.

Answer for 6
I've been in all forum types, so I'll tell you what's happening there.
General Chess Discussion - Worse. You can never see a forum with "just now".
Game Analysis - Dead. in the latest forum posts, this forum NEVER comes.
Off-Topic - Life-less. Too much spammers too less good people.
Lichess-Feed Back - Best. Everyone wants to send a message there. Even I have.
Hope this tour helped.
#2 Old forums were better.
Don't travel back to 10 years ago, I don't like those forums.
#4: 10 years ago, forums were less moderated, and people could post without accounts.
Forums really went downhill around December of 2019.

its a kiddie thing, even your own post is just attention seeking

80% (probably more) of posts anyway are kids being kids; edgy (but not really), unfunny, attention seeking (chess unrelated) etc.

this is NOT a critique because it's just reality here

and it keeps away deeper more serious posters

they go to talkchess and serious outlets to read and contribute

again not really a critique but a description of reality as it is on Lichess.

The forum is mostly spam and "fun" (kids)

if you don't like it it's "bad", if you like it that way it's "good"

I think it's bad..but I do read it now and then..and make replies like I did right now
in my personal opinion, i think its because most forums (in the off-topic category) are either repeated stuff such as music or favourite *insert something here* or these forums are not that interesting for a lot of people anymore
