Wikipedia is your friend. Wales, 1860s.

A better expression would be, "A steak a day keeps the doctor away." But I digress...
A classic phrase! The idea that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" is a centuries-old proverb that originated in Wales in the 19th century. There are several theories about its origins and meaning:

1. Antibacterial properties: Apples contain quercetin, a flavonoid with antibacterial properties that may help fight infections.
2. Fiber content: Apples are high in dietary fiber, which promotes digestive health and prevents constipation.
3. Antioxidants: Apples contain antioxidants that help protect against oxidative stress and inflammation.
4. Historical context: In the 19th century, apples were a staple food, and eating one daily ensured a basic level of nutrition.

While there's no conclusive evidence that apples directly keep doctors away, they do offer numerous health benefits!
That one day I ate an apple, I went to the doctor because I got a fever right after eating the apple.
There was a guy who sold apples for a living. He came up with this slogan to sell more apples. He shouted an apple a day keeps the doctor away on the streets. It was very catchy.Everyone started saying it.It spread from his town to the whole country and even overseas. The whole world started saying it.It is the reason apple became the most famous fruit.
other fruits sucked back then, or were too far away

Pears had spikes that could impale a small child
cherries made you puke out your pelvis
raspberries made you hear voices
and pigfruit was good, but now it's lost to time
Apple seeds contain cyanide, which is poisonous to doctors.
