in my humble opinion, it is the politicians who simplify events to agitate their theories : in Europe, the slightest news item can become the hobby horse of a political branch. The far right delight in this, and I must admit that even we (trade unionists/communists/leftists) enjoy flailing our theories around to annoy the far right
