I always thought that it was pronounced Lee-chess because it is a pretty common Chinese last name.
Verdict: Evidently, from the results shown by @BulletStreamz quite helpful poll, the 'expert opinion' of the pronunciation is outnumbered by the rebelious bandits - we lichess users who refuse to pronounce 'lichess' as 'Leechess'.

Conclusion: Despite being divided by our pronunciation of the strangely spelt 'lichess' we are all united with our common hate and superiority over the eyesore that the chess world sees today - chess.com. The beautiful variety of the ways the name of this website could be a reflection the beautiful clean interface that lichess.com offers and, of course, the varied and helpful community that the website contains.
