no, not to own it. but it does take in revenue, it is a nonprofit. the not charging people to play gains loyalty over the other more scammy site (sorry any chess com fans). loyalty buys fans and fans give money. plus, if you want the cool looking wings you need to give....... (it is the only feature they charge for, but unlike chess com which charges you $100 a year for basic features it should already have, they charge you a minimum of $1 a month for a basic aesthetic feature, that's it). take a look at wikipedia, they are free with no ads, open source, and run off of donations with little to no benefits for patrons. they've survived long enough.
