You have to sift away all muzak to get the good stuff. Playlists are often muzak.
"Love Songs That Don't Stink"
That's an oximoron, but I'll try.
I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - Proclaimers
Hootie & The Blowfish - Hold My Hand
Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Conway Twitty - Hello Darling
Elvis Presley - Always On My Mind
I'm usually a metal guy (and metal songs are more about Satan riding motorcycles through old vampire-infested castles in WWII than love*), but there have been glaring classic rock omissions.
Off the top of my head: Moondance, More Than a Feeling, and Born to Run are great songs by pretty well known musicians.
Foreigner churned out above average love songs the way McDonalds churns out hamburgers. They weren't always the most creative songs, to be sure, but they were pretty good songs.
The Beatles existed. A few people like songs by the Beatles.
*Although I suppose a song about Satan falling in love with someone whilst riding motorcycles through old vampire-infested castles in WWII would still be pretty metal.
Robbie Williams - She's The One
It's much easier to come up with great heartbreak songs.
I think, only love breaks a heart.
If I sing you a love song - Bonnie Tyler
