Alas, been there as well. They just don’t live long enough before going on. After losing the last one, I swore-never again would i let one into my heart. Now, our current friend is nearing the end of life’s journey here on earth. I’m not sure how I’ll get through it again. There will be a river of tears for sure.

I was steering the sailboat. There was nothing to see anywhere. Suddenly a small rock appeared straight ahead. "What the..."
There shouldn't be any rock out here. After a while i realized it was the island we were sailing towards.

Try this yourself: Large water, an island so distant you can't see it, binoculars and a boat. Try to see the island with a (borrowed) powerful telescope. Calculate when you should see it based on the height of the island and your eyes height over the sea. Start sailing. When can you see the island in the binoculars? Explain this. (Don't try with: "manipulated equipment", How would you manipulate the binoculars for just this specific scenario?)

Another:
Have any flat earther ever measured the distances in the southern hemisphere and compared with the distance shown on a flat earther world map? Why not? (Make your own distance measuring device if you don't trust commercial ones.)
