How people lived before 1900?

@NaturalBornTraveller I’ll keep this simple. Very, very simple. I will cover a single aspect of what would otherwise be a very long and in depth post.

I studied the IR (Industrial Revolution) extensively and I’m more than aware of how children were exploited and the social and economic deprivation they suffered. Their life is something you will never experience. Lucky for you. The same cannot be said for certain parts of the world where child exploitation is still rampant.

How tragic, how utterly tragic that girls would become mothers, housewives and men would support the home.

Their lives were however far richer, because as I pointed out, they could be ordinary children. I was merely highlighting that their hardship and exploitation is conveniently overlooked when it suits a certain agenda.

Their lives and minds were not poisoned by social media. They were not indoctrinated to believe they could change their sex or gender if they wished at the click of a finger, on a whim, or be outcast for daring to stand against or not conform to this evil ideology. Neither would they suffer physical mutilation and endure a life of painful regret for undergoing ‘transitioning’ only to realise too late, what a devastating mistake they’ve been coerced into making. This is happening to kids!

So yes, in context, which I didn’t think it would be necessary to have to explain, their lives were far better than today.

Lastly, having an opinion that doesn’t fit with yours, is not spamming and I’ll take no lectures from you and I will post what I want, where I want. You can always ignore it if you wish.

And I didn’t use a single profane word. Now, go and enjoy playing with your skateboard.

True. Unfortunately very true.

They could not stay children for long though.
And you correct, These types of hardship still happens in our day and age. Not in my small part of the world, but in countries with a poorer economy, they are going through the same Industrial phase, that Europe went through.
I can sit and yell at how wrong it is for child labour to happen in many places around the world, but at the same time, I also know, that they families of the child labour, their survival depends on the extra income, for food and medicine.
It is not so nuanced to say, because some company uses child labour, so I won't buy from them.
When the workers there, are dependent on the extra income.

True they didn't have the social media we have now, but they did have strong religious doctrines which society required them to follow. And for me, that is an even worse poison than modern social media.

So similar to how some religious doctrines, demands kids to become circumcised? Which still happens today.

I would have to disagree (this time respectfully)

Your right. Sorry.
I fundamentally disagree with you, when you say, they had it better before than now. (From a danish and European perspective, can't say globally)

Honestly... Nice reply, well played. (The skateboard callback to #10, was a brilliant reference, and for someone who likes battle rap, that line was a very cool, nicely played) ;-)

- alcoholism was very common and affected virtually every working class household.

- young men from this same social background were often forcibly recruited by the army/military service and some mutilated themselves to avoid going. I will spare you the details on the situation of women from working class backgrounds, who were sometimes forced to sell themselves to survive... and also all the abandoned or neglected children... this society was monstrous and I can only recommend to read the work of Zola to understand the different moral workings of this era.

- anarchism was extremely active and many young people from different social backgrounds bought into the ideas and were willing to sacrifice themselves for anarchism via bombings

- In the USA, the K*K committed despicable crimes, racism was normalized throughout the world.

- practically no one cared about women's rights (which had nevertheless been outlined by Olympe de Gouges during the French revolution!), children's rights, harassment, humiliation, racism, consent, equality between men and women , working conditions of workers.... ect ect...
