got a warning for my username

I am not OP, just a passerby.

Lichess, just like so many other open-source projects, is being too compliant with political correctness.
I do not blame Lichess for this since these things are often nebulous, but I am expecting them to do the best they can.
In this case, I think they can do better.

During just five minutes of digging, I found a lot of keywords in usernames that I think almost anyone would agree are much more offensive than that of OP. Many of the forum posts made in this thread alone are arguably much more offensive. Not to mention that they still use the "master" branch on their GitHub, etc.

In these murky waters, I think Lichess should err on the side of caution; I'd rather they did one thing too little than one thing too much. Just look how many people got offended by the 48 hour notice.
Let people be people, with all their creases and crevasses.

If requested, I can write a longer blog post about this issue.
Last time I wrote a wall of text (about some site settings), there was an immediate PR and subsequent merge, so I know they'll at least listen. In the end, Lichess is a truly great project.

tl;dr:
im really quite drunk
please keep the user intervention to a minimum

the moment you lie about your drinking is when you become an alcoholic
