French foreign minister said Russia is a clear cyber threat to European countries.

ARIS — French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noël Barrot voiced his confusion over reports that the United States' Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a halt of offensive cyber operations against Russia.

"I have a bit of trouble understanding [Hegseth's decision]," Barrot told public radio France Inter Monday. The French minister said European Union countries "are constantly the targets" of Russian cyberattacks.

Cybersecurity publication The Record on Friday reported that Hegseth had ordered U.S. Cyber Command to stand down from planning offensive cyber operations against Russia. The report was confirmed by other publications shortly after. Cyber Command is the U.S. Department of Defense's section conducting cyberattacks and cyberdefensive operations.

I don't see there is anything bad for a truly democratic and liberal government with more policy transparency and less shady actions. Biden government has lied much enough to her citizens as well as to the world.

Look, I know that it is hard for you to get anything, let alone why an administration doesn't talk about their cyber operations against an adversary. Thus I don't feel very encouraged to explain WHY cyber operations against a country could be necessary that carried out a lot of cyber operations against Western countries.

But we get what you are doing. Trump is aligning with a brutal dictator so for people like you who think that the orange clown can do no wrong this is perfectly OK.

The sole problem with that is that you are paying with your country and you won't realize this even if that fact jumps into your face with its naked arse (to borrow from a German proverb).

I would be very, very surprised if American cyber security operations suddenly stopped with regards to Russia. Both aggressive and prophylactic. Geopolitics doesn't stop, even when a psychotic narcissist gets into the White House. But it isn't very out of tune for the Americans to stop sharing information, and perhaps let routine prophylactic measures slide, when there are political points to be scored. Yes, USAnians can be just as short sighted as anyone else.
