The flu has killed 20,000 American citizens this year. That's a lot.

But compare that to the projected Corona death rate in the U.S.

You need to add at least an extra zero to that figure :- 200.000.

Can you see the difference that extra zero makes. So don't assume the flu death rate and the Covid 19 death rate to be the same. Stop fooling yourself.

That extra zero means a whole lot more pressure on the hospitals and medical services.

They have vaccines for the flu but there's no vaccine for Covid 19 . So this virus could perpetuate and surge again and again. So we cant put a definite figure on it. Thays why I say AT LEAST 200.000.

So stop using the flu as an argument.

This site is used by children,so you should stop saying anyone who proves you wrong has probably infected thousands of others with HIV and other various STD's.

Also you should stop disseminating false and dangerous misinformation that a child can believe is true.

If you think children today don't know anglo-saxon expletives,you are even more naive than you appear to be. Or is it just that you need to work ad hominem because you have no facts to prove anything you say?

Flu killed a LOT more people than 20’000. Last year 60’000 dead from the flu is a standard estimation.

Corona projected death rate is not impressive, given that being fat killed 1’000’000 people last year alone in USA alone. Just eating too many calories, but I don’t see people wearing masks to prevent their mouth from eating, and quarantine to prevent themselves from wondering into a restaurant when they should be on a track running and lifting weights. (Exercise = Best way to boost your immune system, but the way, the ONLY wash to combat these viruses is the immune system)

Media lies. For example, they say 1700 people died in Italy yesterday from Corona etc. What they don’t tell you is the 1700 people died in Italy before Corona also, just from other causes, like flu, and after Corona 1700 people will continue to die in Italy every day, the TOTAL number of the dead did NOT go up, certainly not by much. Because it’s the same people that die, the old and the ill would have died from something else. What this is is a power grab, it’s evil and dictatorial. Making people lose their jobs and making them wear a mask, like a dog or a slave. Notice that politicians don’t wear a mask, and they still get paid for “working”.

A month ago I was thinking there would be at least 500,000 U.S. deaths. A couple of weeks ago I was thinking 150,000. Now I'm thinking a bit less than 100,000.

Feels strange to be feeling more relieved as we approach the peak.

@Crapablanca64 The first peak you mean. Each time restrictions are reduced (unless they are left in place for a long time) there will be a lesser resurgence.

So let's start from the beginning:-

I said 20,000 died from flu in America this year. You dispute my figures for THIS year by quoting figures for the whole of LAST year

(2) You raise obesity as a reason to dismiss safe practise around Covid19. Obesity is a huge problem in America but the conversation here is about the Corona virus. Two wrongs don't make a right. Maybe you should start a separate thread about obesity.

(3) You quote the media as saying 1700 people died from Corona virus in Italy yesterday , when in fact they said that 766 people died.

It seems to me that you are getting your info from conspiracy sites.

Yesterday in the U.S. 1,480 people died from Covid 19 and it's going to get worse while Trump and Kusokosla. refuse to wear a mask.

You are so eager to prove your point that you twist the truth compounding your deluded state of mind. You can't grasp reality if you disregard the truth.

Two days back to back with over 5000 deaths.

No one on the task force was wearing a mask at yesterday's briefing. It will be interesting to see who will be the first. My guess is nobody. Someone should. The Surgeon General has asthma and is pre-diabetic. Maybe he'll set an example, although he still doesn't seem especially enthusiastic about masks.

In the United States 114,000 people have died of the seasonal flu... just this year! (3 months). Coronavirus is currently at 20,000. I should hope that you all realize how much the news and media is overdramatizing this. They are starting to take deaths by things like heart attack and label them as Coronavirus. There was a photo on the cover of a news article showing a picture of a flooded hospital talking about Italy. That same photo came up when talking about a New York hospital... just merely copied. And headlines are of course exaggerated too. Remember that these news sites are just trying to get views because that is how they gain money and popularity. I understand that the Coronavirus is a big deal and is going to get worse, so I hope nobody debates me on that, but the news cannot be trusted, it is just exaggerating stuff and focusing on the negative, as if it is TRYING to create mass hysteria. For example, do you guys know that Facebook has been censoring anything positive about the Coronavirus? They say it is a ‘glitch’, what a coincidence. Seriously, so many people have gotten over the Coronavirus and have been fine, with very mild cases, but of course the news won’t mention that. Not to mention that it has been an election year... did you know there has been a disease outbreak every election year?
