I also understand that people need to work to eat. This is a problem. Sadly, there is probably no truly good solution to this. Giving people checks is a good way to start. But I will reiterate that if we do not quarantine, we cannot stop this virus from spreading. The only way to stop Covid-19 from spreading is to prevent people from spreading everywhere, + faster tests and more of them + more materials so hospitals and medical professionals can actually mitigate the crisis.
That's how you FLATTEN THE CURVE.
And if you don't understand what that even means, it means smoothing out the distribution of cases so that we don't overwhelm the hospitals which would cause higher fatality. If there are a smaller number of cases at any given time, the hospitals can better handle them properly.

I see Trump is now considering the use of masks and the mayor of Los Angelus has urged everyone to wear a mask.

I was listening to a speaker today who was saying that the South Koreans have reached a stage of relative normality where people can commute to work etc., because they are all wearing masks Other countries around the world are considering promoting the wearing of masks because empirically they have proven to be effective.

As I said Trump is considering the idea. But then this is America where politicians are afraid to encroach on peoples civil liberties even if costs peoples lives. Look at the gun laws!!

So I suspect the American people will be asked or even advised to wear masks in the near future. But hey, this is America and they're not going to have their civil liberties curtailed,. No Sir. This is the land of the free. And so the hesitant fractured response goes on as the virus runs rampant .

Millions and millions of people died from alcohol, drunk driving, car accidents and smoking. But guess what? THat doesn’t mean that you should not be able to drive, have a cigar and enjoy a drink.

Stop with the virtue signaling. And yes a woman in her home has the right to shoot and kill a rapist or a killer who broke into her house. This is how it should be. You try to kill or rape someone, you get shot and killed.

It’s disgusting and sick what governments are doing at this time. Politicians and kids living with parents are fine, but busy professionals lost their jobs, income, and thus the ability to buy food and pay rent. No government thug with a badge and gun should have the authority to order a restaurant owner to close his business. This is sick, true dictatorship. If you are afraid of the virus, stay home, what does any of this have to do with the rest of us who want to live and have already had this virus or have been exposed plenty of times and didn’t get sick? Let us have our life.

What gives you the right to wander about potentially infecting others?
Or is it that you just don't care about anyone but yourself?
