Let's say that I set up position that I want to analyze from White's perspective (for example Evans Gambit), with Black to move, like here:
https://puu.sh/zUGP1/1351f21c3b.jpg
However, even though I am as a White in editor, after starting analysis it puts me as a Black for some reason....
https://puu.sh/zUGPR/e00700452b.jpg
I tried to fix it somehow, but no idea how. So, if you try to play as a White, but after going out of editor you are placed at a Black's side, then what is a logical thing to do? I.e. maybe flipping the board should fix the problem?
https://puu.sh/zUGQG/ffcaaaf4a4.jpg
Well, if we try flipping the board, the first thing that we notice is that:
IT DOES COMPLETELY NOTHING. NOTHING CHANGED AT ALL.
https://puu.sh/zUGR7/d771bdf0e2.jpg
So....... Why is there even a [Flip Board] button, if it doesn't do anything?
Is this broken? I.e. is it a bug?
Why flipping the board doesn't affect the side I play with at all?
And why I am forced to play the wrong side at the first place?

P.S. I know that I can Flip the Board from the Analysis, but if you set the board to play in given way, you should play like this, right?
So, setting the board in a chosen way should let you play like that. And should let you to flip the sides. However, flipping doesn't visibly change the outcome in any way.

Is this firefox? I tried with the latest Chrome and with an outdated Firefox - it works like a charm in both.
Edit: ah, now i got what you mean.

It will automatically orient the board so that the side to move is at the bottom because that's what 99% of people would want. Also as you said you can flip it in the analysis board using the button, or pro tip, press the letter 'f'.
The lichess philosophy is to try to keep a simple clean interface and not overload it with options that few people would want. They consider setting the board orientation from the board editor to be one of these.
You can do this with studies though! If this is important to you you might want to try it that way.

"It will automatically orient the board so that the side to move is at the bottom because that's what 99% of people would want."
Why so? I mean, there are endless games and positions, that you analyse from perspective of exact player (White or Black), but the continuation depends on the opponent's move.
So, take any gambit, and depending on your opponent's move, your response will be different. So, I find it completely natural that by playing as White, you want to analyze position, when the black is to move, thus I see nothing that would support your "99% of people" assumption ;-)
Also, I didn't knew about 'F' button, always doing it with multiple clicks. Thank you!! :-)

Like you said, you want to analyse it from the perspective of the exact player. So if it's the opponent's move you're still looking at it from your perspective, just that it happens to be the opponent's move at that particular time. To me, and most people I think, it would only add confusion when you are trying to learn a line from one player's perspective to keep flipping the board every move. I've never ever seen anyone study like that or do lectures like that or in videos. I've never seen any evidence whatsoever that anyone thinks that would be a good way to do it until your post lol.
That's not a bad thing, all the power to you for having your own way to do it. But my years of chess experience indicate to me it's out of step with the vast majority of others, who Lichess must cater to.
Glad you found the shoutcut key helpful. I also hate having to do multiple mouse clicks for repeated tasks. There are some other ones for this site that are worth learning.

well, long words, short meaning, i agree with @Scarlet_Evans it should stay like it was.
However, this probably has technical reasons. The information which side is bottom is not part of the FEN and when you go to the analysis board this information must anyhow be transmitted if you want this setting to persist. Very probably thibault just didnt care too much about it, because there is the 'f' button.

nah, there's no technical reason, people just don't study chess this way.
