If any help is needed formatting the list, I can easily convert it to any format, including Scala code. And if the unicode was lost during the Excel => CSV transition, I can start with the Excel file.
Also, I vote for cities to be removed and make it names only.

#33, it's already been committed but thanks for the offer. I actually did it all between Emacs (when in Linux) and Notepad++ (in Windows).
I google-searched every single name, checked various resources on transliteration from Slavic languages, and much more. It was over 15 hours work in total just to clean up the list. But it's done.
As for the place names, I chose to leave them out. I actually did about half of the place names before I decided to leave them out so to keep things consistent and avoid confusion.

Maybe this way we can even "drag in" some of those "names" here, personally, to play on "playchess" tournaments? (some of them we never could invite to play, unfortunatelly, but maybe they would at least have fun, watching from other dimensions "their" tournaments being played here, ...lol)
