Vote to assassinate new red audio icon

Hi all

I think the new audio icon feature needs to be assassinated. Aside from not wanting days of bullet chess on mute, it does seem a confusing bit of extra clutter for other people on the forums as well as introducing it seems for ithers a new unexpected sound at the beginning of games.

PLease vote yes or no with the thumbs up or thumbs down here ... thumbs up to Assasinate the new future so I can keep assassinating opponents on the chess board.

I agree it's extremely annoying.
Today only I noticed it while I was recording a vedio for my yt. This issue should be probably made in github as many devs will see this.

I think the feature is useful, because you need to know that a page will not send alerts, for example, because it's on mute. But I have to say that if you go to the Sound lichess options and choose Silent, then the red icon has no reason to appear. Personally I never used lichess with sound and was quite surprised of this wave of anger against the new icon.

That being said, I do believe that when the sound is allowed for any reason, the icon should not be visible, not disappear only if you click it.
The red mute icon appears when lichess.org wants to play a sound but cannot because your browser won't let it due to autoplay restrictions.

Sure the icon is annoying but it should go away on its own once you have interacted with the page (after the next deploy). There is no need for assassination.

As to why it exists at all, the intention is to open the lichess faq to a new section about autoplay issue when the mute icon is clicked, but this has not yet been completed.

From what I've read, your real problem is that sound is not played at all on your older iPad which cannot upgrade past iOS 12. This is difficult to solve because Apple no longer supports iOS 12 in Simulator. However, I am doing my best to acquire a device old enough to debug this issue.

Could you perhaps give a check list of your working IOS 14 settings to check out.

Actually it is : "2021 Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) - Space Grey (3rd Generation)" - it is IOS 14. I wonder if it is because i disabled most things in settings as I wanted maximum performance from it for bullet chess. Is there something in the Ipad settings which needs to be enabled maybe.
To be honest, I spent about 30 minutes the other day trying to track down why MY iphone couldn't play sounds only to realize I had the ring/silent/mute switch turned off. So yeah it could be anything.

iOS 14 does work for me in multiple device simulators, though.

Well it seems I can at least just click on my name too right and then it gets rid of the red mute button. Better but not ideal.
