With all the courage you had in the face of the situation of the United States federation for covering up cases of sexual misconduct:

and decide not to broadcast the games of the tournaments of US Chess Federation and the Saint Louis Chess Club, we are now surprised that you have no problem broadcasting the games of the federation of a State that is causing a genocide. Can we know why you think that a genocide is not serious enough for you to refuse to give it visibility?

Which of the chess players of that tournament are you referring to?

To all those who continue to represent a genocidal State and its flag.

To all those who continue to represent a genocidal State and its flag.

I see. It's more a general thing. I'm out here.

Except it's not a genocide

Except it's not a genocide

There is nothing to argue about whether it is a genocide or not.

What I want is for someone from the Lichess organization to explain to me why at the moment in which they decide to take a stand for a cause to not broadcast the tournaments of the federation involved, they do not decide to do so with another from a state responsible for this massacre. It is incomprehensible, if you decide to set a limit for one cause, why not do the same for another, much more serious reason? (without wanting to downplay the seriousness of the problems of sexual misconduct)

I hate Israel because a kid was fishing in Gaza but was shot by an Israeli soldier. Not only that, they also bombed Gaza, killing millions of Palestinians.

"Millions" is overexaggerated. Why is no-one talking about the guilt and genocidal goals of Hamas? Their declared goal is to eliminate Israel and its people from the world map. They started the war, they're tyrants and terrorists, they abuse their own population.

As for the Lichess staff and broadcast team: They will boycot an event at their own discretion if they find moral issues with it. It's not up to us to request or complain.

When there is a chess tournament organized by Hamas, we will discuss it. Meanwhile, Germans could stop making fools of themselves by displaying their complexes about their grandparents' guilt.

I don't care about this thread or some tournament broadcast, but I don't enjoy reading genocide denial. I know it's becoming more fashionable to deny genocides but please do it somewhere else.

Just as a public service, below is the definition of genocide according to the convention ratified by 153 States.

Any one of these constitutes genocidal acts, one to four have been fulfilled at least. Doctors estimate that at least 180.000 are dead. Anyway the numbers are not that important, Srebrenica was justly ruled genocide and the numbers were below the lowest estimate in Gaza.

Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Article II

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

1 Killing members of the group

2 Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group

3 Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

4 Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group

5 Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
