@djungelskog a problem with deleted comments going away entirely is this:
persona: posts a good idea.
personb: posts a bad idea
personc: posts "that's a bad idea" expecting that it is obviously personb's post that they are responding to
personb: deletes their post.
now it looks like personc responded to persona(of course quoting solves this, but not everyone does that)
