It's just leading to spams and not helpful...
It can lead to spam when people quote an entire lengthy posting, but I don't see that happening often here.
It's very good when used carefully. You can quote part(s) of someone's posting to show which point(s) you are responding to. And it prevents confusion if the earlier poster edits what they wrote after you responded. So no, let's keep the quote button.
