Please Create a Way for Users to Vote on Proposed Features

@lovlas,

Presumably, they won't be voting ex nihilo (as it were), but rather on _proposed_ features. Naturally then, the persons proposing said features will be the ones implementing them (or not, according to the vote). And the real point of this is, after all, so that users can say "No!" if they don't like a decision made by the devs. Such as -- for example -- selecting a Freedom Knight sans wings for the new logo; removing the platforms from the bottoms of the Maestro pawns; auto-uncapitalizing entire sentences in the chatbox because the user typed a common acronym that happened to be in ALL CAPS; etc. Fill-in-the-blank; you propose a new feature, and we say yes or no, is the general idea.

That said, I am sure there are also some things users would be happy to contribute, in ways other than by voting or donating. For example, if you are looking for a new kind of board or pieces, it's quite possible some of your users are able to contribute such artwork, themselves. Who knows how many potential devs are lurking in these forums? I myself (under a previous screen name) contributed one piece set, and have made a board for which there is a UserStyle, but no official representation as yet. I am willing & able to contribute more artwork -- and such a voting system would, perhaps, give me the ability to do so, to a greater degree than is currently possible, by simply providing me with a venue in which to submit samples of my work, upon request by the devs.

So -- even if I take your reply seriously -- GSP0113's idea is _still_ a good one. :)

@lovlas Nothing force you to do what users suggest. But why wouldn't they have a way to give their opinion about features suggestions?
"Lichess is founded on the idea of crowdsourcing"

No, it's open source. Why not have a vote on who you'd like to fork the code, and another on how you're going to pay them.
@Doofenshmirtz I have no idea what your comment means or how it's intended to be constructive. You have some deep-seated aversion to user feedback, I guess?
There are many thousands of supporters/patrons, and I think we should have some feature requests granted. With all do respect, people who ask for new features are more often ridiculed by staff than receiving any real interest in their idea. Why ask for peoples request if there is no intention or system in actually taking them seriously?
I think that what @lovlas was trying to say is that this idea, while good in theory, is infeasible. Take, for instance, the endless "this game should be a draw, not a loss" posts. If people start to vote on this issue, then do we change the rules of chess? Or are these people merely wasting their votes? Further, updating code is hard work, and changing it all the time is very time consuming.
I would actually prefer not having this system of voting. As it is, we can vote on any feature we like, using words, which are usually read by admins and developers. The beauty of this is that we have unlimited votes-- if the vote system is implemented, what do we do if we want to vote on another issue, but run out of votes?
@clousems yes. Though we shouldn't need a voting system this forum specifically says feature request, so when is it appropriate to grant a new feature? What features have been granted in the past? How does lichess manage these requests? Will we ever receive official feedback for requests? I wasn't aiming @lovlas or anyone in particular I'm just looking for any official cooperation in relation to requests that we see over and over again.
You are of course free to comment and suggest things in the forum and on github. But people who think online votes is the way to go haven't spent enough time on the internet.
@lovlas You seem awfully full of yourself. Can you tell me what percentage of Lichess users would like to see a No Escape feature implemented? No, you can't, because there is currently no way to get even a rough idea of what the user base thinks of the idea, aside from anecdotal comments.
Ok. So I'm haughty, and don't care about the users. Now I'm full of myself. Do you have any other personal insults to share?
