playing to stockfish

Hi Team

I hope to make playing to computer more fun and challenging thing when playing to computer in lichess we to choose stockfish 1 to 8 and I think those number maybe are based of the elo of the engine so why not to have another parametre : number of move calculated like in the analysis which give the best move based on calculation depth for example if i m playing to stockfish and set the parametre to 5 move depth based on 5 move depth so even when i m playing to cumputer i will try to calculate the most relevant line for me with 5 move depth or move the beat the engine in the same time will improv calculation skills of player in term of depth calculation and variations

Thank you
Engines don't calculate trees to a fixed depth. The depth varies quite a bit. And so should human calculation.

And the current stockfish will probably crush you doing a simple 3-ply search (basically instant) pretty consistently.

So the levels are more complex than simply limiting the depth. Humans on lower levels are just terrible calculators. ;-)
this why the need of this parameter to give an insight to player which level depth calculation you can beat and which depth of calculation to train yourself to improv
