Hiding User name from opponents.

Hi Lichess,

I would like to hide my user name from opponents while playing the game. Or use an alternate name/display name.

I have observed that few users use the offensive language in chat while playing, so i would like to hide my identity.
please provide the solution.

If the feature does not exist, implement it as soon as possible.

As well I request you to use machine learning / NLP to auto-detect the offensive words in chat.
This is MUST feature as Chess is gentlemen's game. There should not be any place for such a player on this platform.

Your username is already a form of anonymity, I doubt it is the cause of any abuse you, or anyone, could receive.

There is already a feature that allows you to hide your user name--log out.

Your opinion is so important there's no need to say please or thanks? Many people play here without difficulty so the problem cannot surely be THAT important, right? And you could always create another account in another name?

Wait hold up. Does he think that made up usernames need to be protected? Or does he believe that we all use our real names, and someone would name their child bufferunderrun? 😂

I may be wrong, but I think that OP uses his REAL name (seems that indian players do so quite often)

I mean I got lucky with my username. Not gonna name my child that.

Guess my first name and what year I was born. Btw @NakulKapadia. You can either play in Zen mode or click the little box to disable chat or just report them as mentioned above. You can use that link or visit the players profile page and select the report option there.
