give name of the cheater.

Myself, I have a pet "peeve". I think a feature should be changed. The +time should be made an option to disable it in settings, muck like tackbacks. But it seems this will not happen. Changing features, removing them, once installed will infuriate a lot of members who have grown accustomed to them.
One thing to be learned is developers and moderators at lichess are all volunteers. Nobody is paid a cent. They give their time because they believe in the project. Thibault says, you want something done "write the damn code". It's not comparable to other chess sites. If you can convince a dev that's it's a fantastic idea, he may volunteer his time, otherwise do it yourself. Everything is open sourced. If it fits and is well received then as mods have said, most likely it will happen.
@mdinnerspace Another nuance is: rarely do developers make not-approved changes, and even more rarely are not-approved changes approved after a developer has made them.

Based upon experience as a Lichess developer, I voluntarily offer criticism in the forums. For example, that "add an option to remove the opponent's [+] button" requires adding an option/preference to disable an already-complicated feature (that appears on some game pages but not others). I'm not responsible for maintaining and testing that complicated code every time the site upgrades... I'm not about to code something which Lichess will immediately reject.
#22 "This reminds me of when ICC used to make marked users carry around an admission of cheating in their profile for a certain amount of time to get a second chance."

Third chance. The second chance is when they block you from playing until you confirm that you've read the rules on computer usage and agree to follow them (with no requirement to admit anything to anyone).
But upon receiving 'this person was marked as a cheater' notification, doesn't everyone scroll through their recent game history to see whose game matches the rating refund anyway?
@theoriefritze I totally agree with you.

@thelazymd Yep. Except for the goofballs that report everyone who beats them (they exist). Heck maybe they do too.

@mdinnerspace Seriously broseph. I like yas. But I'll be darned if you only agree with me 1/1000 times. What you talkin bout Willis. Follow my logic. Okay so no naming and shaming.
Lichess LABELS their profile when they get marked as a cheater.
So, They have already been named and They have been publicly shamed.
What on earth is the furthe harm of telling the person who reported them who it was that was banned; so they know which tourny was affected; which game was affected; and whats what in funkytown.

I'll tell you what the harm is. Nothing. Nothing at all.

This is NOT the same sort of situation as coming to the forums and saying this that and the other about a purported cheater or someone who did whatever.
This is due diligence.

As OP said; its quite easy (if rather time consuming) to go through your games and find the people you reported and check their profile.

Lichess absolutely SHOULD tell you who you reported that got banned.

Wasn't their a super long thread about Atrophied that stayed on the forums 'hot list' for a month or so?
Where was the TOS then?

Once you get caught for cheating; I feel like you lose any rights you may have had from the ToS.
Just like once you get caught for a crime you lose your freedom and many other rights you have from the Constitution (or whatever similar document your country has).

Lets do one better.

On the Top list for the week lets add the top 5 highest ranked cheaters banned.
Would do wonders for peoples confidence in the system; and may also serve as a deterrent for potential cheats.

A lot of people cheat because they think 'everyone does it' or that there is really any repercussions. And they really aren't wrong about the second part.
Mention a cheater by name and you are shunned and reprimanded as its 'against ToA' like the cheaters are freakin Voldomort. No saying his name!

Jeepers Creepers.

*edit*
And...fyi...adding the bit of code to update this feature..would literally take any programmer around...maybe 5 minutes. Probably less than 1 minute but Ima say 5 as I said 'any' programmer.
Its nothing further than adding two lines of code. To put it simply, One to grab the users profile one to paste it in the message. Done and done :l=
thanks @Toadofsky#26, @rickrenegade#27 and @breakreign#38 for the support.

@breakreign a top ranked cheaters list – or pinky, as i like to call them – yes, sounds like a fun idea. A years highest ranked cheater should also get an award: 'pinky of the year', looking like a strawberry ...

Im just kidding ;-)
a lowest ranked cheaters list would probably be not very nice as it basically means that one is too stupid to even cheat properly ...
