of course you do. because that is how it's supposed to work.

why tho?
I imagine one reason is to avoid 7 year old zombie threads with 1,000 comments like they get over on chess.com.
Yes it's intentional. Some of these threads are pretty annoying too
What would these forums be without some discussions started again and again? And they never grow old!

-> Why is this a draw?
-> People who don't accept takebacks
-> People who do accept takebacks
-> Who is the greatest chessplayer of all time?
-> Why are threads with more than 50 messages not being bumped up anymore?

Just imagining that we should discuss these topics in posting #4078 of some evergreen thread makes me sad.
don't forget chesscom vs lichess and/or i want lichess to implement this feature i have seen on chesscom.
anyway, i have little faith that the people who start these topics wouldn't do so anyway. if they were looking for old topics on their issue, the non-bumping wouldn't prevent them from finding them.
ah ok sorry, i didnt know about this feature. thank you everyone for the info! :D
I wonder, though... sure, this is by design, but perhaps the intent of the design was:
"I haven't commented on this thread recently and I'm tired of seeing it in my feed."

... in which case, perhaps the design could be slightly altered so people who are continuing to argue with each other can do so without disrupting the rest of us. Although... perhaps that isn't a good thing.
Because then people like me would comment on a 120 post thread and it would be filled by the others even more.
