Cheating at "rapid" \ "standard" controls

#5 To take our discussions away from "rating", I want there to be a "competitive" ladder or ranking system where players who currently care about comparing the sizes of their di--I mean, ratings--can compete. I don't even care how it's implemented, just that it provides some set of objective, non-depedent-upon-rating rules for ranking up or down, like virtually every other competitive activity:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranking#Examples_of_ranking

Initially I suggested a ladder but perhaps a better idea would be more akin to what StarCraft or 81dojo (shogi) do with professional and amateur titles.

Ratings are useful for finding suitable opponents of similar ratings. For lack of a different goal, players use ratings to measure their learning progress or even their skill as a chess player, and say silly things about how they are better or worse than indicated by their rating.
I assume
1. Ratings have to be considered when dealing with cheaters
Based on what I ve read previously higher rated games means higher chance of cheating. If i remember chess.com numbers right 1600 - 2% chance, 2000 - 20%.
2. Time controls have to be considered even more
3. Starcraft is worse in every way than lichess. Plz dont even look at their mess.

Overall I say cheating even at slow controls is managable for players themseves. 0ne have to just abort games against those who dont fit the formula and get 95% of fair games. It just feels not polite to abort sometimes.
20% cheating at ratings over 2000? That is a made up number.
1. I think 20% was given by this user www.chess.com/member/triggerlips
based on his ~125 games at slow control likely 15+10. He have said smth like that "out of 125 games 15 users were banned and at least 10 more I strongly suspect of being at it too". That equals his 20%. I dont remember date when it was stated to check his games and see if its true.
Similar data was given by blue moder there www.chess.com/member/mgleason.
2. Chess.com has more problems with that.

I wonder how much cheating at 2200+ at controls like 10+10 or slower.
Standard games are rarely played i dont know if its hard to use stricter standarts for 15+15 specificaly.

Another approach dealing with cheaters is to allow to set more criteria who you want to play against. It can significantly increase time to find a game maybe some other downsides.

Lets say I want to play 15+15 with player
1. Who is 1800+ in blitz and <2000 in standard
2. 1000+ games played.
But you can set criteria that you mtch yourself.

That will lead to new accounts will play vs questionable opponents like they are. And old accounts would have value
unfortunately I disagree with Lovlas from personal experience I believe the 20% value to be true for example last time I played a rapid game I played an individual who made 22 engine moves in a row ..... 22 engine moves. I don't claim to be good at rapid but my FIDE elo is 1880 and I doubt Magnus Carlsen would be able to play 22 engine moves against me in a row during a rapid game. I reported my opponent and he was never banned I didn't even receive a notification that there is a lack of evidence etc. just felt like I was getting ignored. I believe the identification and banning of cheaters should be done by a group of dedicated investigators and not just some computer program which may obviously make mistakes... Now I understand my proposition isn't exactly fault proof either but it will give the community a sense of security to know that there is a dedicated team investigating every report in depth. That's just my opinion please don't take it the wrong way.
#15, did you consider all the relevant meta data like the AI does? Move times, slopes, blurring, consistencies, standard deviations? Thousands of data points?

Of course 22 engine moves can happen. Depends strongly on the position.

People in the forums:
my gut feeling > sophisticated anti-cheating AI
Have you considered how the nature of their anti cheat was never published therefor everything you had just said is based on speculation?
I don't know if there are really that many cheaters out there but the paranoia of cheaters is preventing me to play classic game online. There has to be chess website where you can only sign up with your ID. If you cheat, you are a goner forever! One day there will be a website which does this and honest real chess players will flow there. I hope Lichess is the website that implements this first.
FIDE Online Arena presumably verifies a player's FIDE ID.
