The podcast implies lichess has been reluctant the last year to add more variants simply because only 1 in 1,000 play racing kings. Most of the playerbase don't care for variants. Thereby indirectly suggesting more will play Seirawan variant if properly implemented.
Personally, I think Seirawan variant will rank nearby to crazyhouse in popularity.
