Try it out!
Try that

Zen Mode makes only the board, and the clock visible to you.
your opponent's name, rating, the chat, and everything else gets hidden. It's useful when you are in a deep think and don't want to get annoyed by chat messages.
I usually use Zen Mode in tournaments to avoid getting intimidated by the opponent's rating, since I'm low rated.
TL;DR: Zen Mode hides everything except the board and the clock.

zen mode is totally useless
zen mode is king.
@YOU_ARE_L: I insist it's useless, despite the 5 dislikes, and I'm the correct one here.

Why is it useless?
It helps you focus IMO, but it does not really simulate real life like OTB, since it's almost impossible to concentrate only on the board especially in OTB unless you are in a quiet room and In OTB you will know your opponent's name and rating
