Try warming up your chess skills before getting into actual games. Just try a few puzzles before playing for real, and you should be more prepared in the future.

thanks
You may still be a bit sleepy. I play rapid chess to try to wake up when I am sleepy but don't want to be (afternoons and early evenings, typically). It means I lose a lot of games at those times but I do wake up. I play only casual at those times... and at most other times too....
It's mostly a case of sleep inertia - a transition from being asleep to fully awake.During this time you might feel a bit drowsy , tired and your body co-ordination may not be fully operational yet.

So, maybe your brain is still in a bit of that stage , hence you're underperforming during that time.

#3 Caffeine does help get rid of sleep inertia. Caffeine can also keep you awake for long at nights , helps if you're working for late hours and you need to be awake.

But not required , your body will automatically start functioning normally within 15-30 minutes , varies from person to person.I have never tried playing as soon as I woke up as I have other important priorities except a few times where I played Arena Kings and the Lichess Marathon.I played normally during that time ngl, no issues with my performance.

It's totally normal , you could avoid playing as soon as you get up and start playing after 30min - 1 hour depending on when you feel fully awake.
Why are you playing as soon as you wake up? Get some breakfast or something.
