why do people have to be so horrible in the chat?

Why can't people just play chess on here without having to be awful human beings?

In just the last couple of days, I've had people insult me for winning on time, insult me for losing on time, insult me for giving a rematch and then losing it, insult me for not giving a rematch. I report them but they still have active accounts and nothing seems to be done about it.

People that send kissing face emojis when you've got mate in a couple, or people that send middle finger emojis, or people that spam profanities in chat... why do you do it? We've got enough problems in the world at the moment, why do you want to make it worse?

Good point and I have made a few points to my friend asking 'Why can't we just have a peaceful world with no arguments'. All those people who disagree like putting others in danger.

@Caarlsenisback I use zen mode during the game but it turns off after the game and you get all of these messages anyway. Or they message you instead.

Use "kid mode" (lichess.org/account/kid) to avoid crap.

i enjoy receiving abuse as it means I made someone mad with my superior play (ha, I'm the second worst player ever)

I also feel empathy for them as I know sometimes, maybe 1 out of 10 loses, I feel bad. They obviously have mental health issues, there's a saying that people that are hurting try to hurt other people. It makes them feel good for a few seconds but it doesn't fix their underlying issues. Feel bad for them. They are hurting. Then report them and move on. They don't know you so nothing they say is about you, it's about them. Never give strangers that don't know you the power to make you feel bad. Own your own feelings.
