Who was Stafford, after whom the Stafford gambit is called?

Who was Stafford, after whom the Stafford gambit is called? I can't find him in google.
Appearently Stafford is a city in Britain. It is also a dog
I heard rumors that Stafford was a close friend of Eric Rosen.
It is named after the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, a dog bred for blood sport, to highlight the aggressive nature of the gambit.

#6 But 6 d4! is the line I play and White is clearly better, Black has no compensation for the pawn.
Thanks everybody for your replies. Especially that youtube in post #5 is very helpful. That Stafford gambit with the win in 6 moves I had it last night: lichess.org/jd2LZ2ratxW9 The enemy didn't resign on move 6, but he took my horse. Therefore, on move 9 he lost his queen. He did get a horse and a bishop for it, but that was obviously not enough. On move 12 he lost his castle for my bishop. On move 15, him being 9 points behind, playing without queen, his king in the middle of the board, he finally surrendered.

36 hours ago I had the classic Stafford gambit, in which I sacrificed my queen on move 6: lichess.org/5OnJtZh6Usb5 The enemy threw himself upon my queen with speed of a vulture diving upon a rotting carcass. Mate in 2 followed. I slaughtered literally HUNDREDS of combatants with the Stafford, and IM Eric Rosen has very nicely expended my trappy repertoire in the Stafford, so it has become even more of a devastating weapon. I LOVE the Stafford gambit! So I was wondering already a long time; who is that guy Stafford? Never met the guy, but I feel indebted to him. I want to sent him flowers or something. So I was wondering.

After viewing this forum, i tried playing stafford gambit but ended up playing some chaotic opening.. I don't know how but i won..

After playing e5, i expected N×e5 but somehow white played Nf3.. The best part is i still tried to forcefully sacrifice my e5 pawn to somehow initiate stafford gambit but i did not succeed
