@AsadsWorld As I said, it's splitting hairs at that point, and they're about on even pace. If Alireza can do it, good for him. I wasn't doubting him. I just don't think the age thing carries that much weight, especially when you consider how many more strong players there are these days to gain rating from. Alireza's rating right now in the pool ten years ago, may have even been 50-100 points fewer, just by rating density.
@Flyingjat Yeah. With chess, it tends to be the cognitive faculties much more than the physical ones that cause it. It's often a loss of consistency rather than potential potency, as we're seeing in the Legends tournament. Ivanchuk took Magnus all the way to Armageddon, but he's slipped a bit in consistency (and rating) over the years while retaining the capacity to defeat anyone on a good day. Whether it is Alireza or someone else, there will always be a next champion.
