should people be polite or just leave?

i think after a game its not hard to just klick the ggwp buttons instead of instant leaving like most people do. i think its disrespectful. am i wrong?

(p.s.: i dont mean tournaments, where you hurry to the next game and in the end you can say "ggs all". i mean just random games)
ggwp not always used, feels a bit condescending (but lets not start that debate here!)

GLHF is an always, however
I've been hung up on most people not saying hi and gg on internet chess for yeeeears.
Especially after a decisive win saying "well played" might be misunderstood.
I think whatever is said, what people may be seeking is some phatic language to acknowledge humanity in each other, and welcome to my tribe. because internet might be a cold interface. That's why some cultures and sub-culture have made an art out of elaborating complicated exchanges, that in the end only mean, yes i see you, you are there, and are a fellow human being i accept in my neighborhood. It does not always mean that they want to have tea in the next few days.

and now, derailing somewhat: ....and considering that bots are all around, maybe your neighbor, it is good to behave like physical humans, to really show that one belong to the same hyper-tribe.
@thibault how does one implement this script? i've downloaded it but haven't a clue where to put the code!
Cheers :)
