Seems Like Cheating Is Getting Bad

Nutshell: Lost 8 classical games in a row to the same ratings of players I was just rolling all over a month ago. I've gotten much, much better at chess during that time. Nothing explains it. 1600-1700's are playing way, way better than they should be.

I've reported several games and although I've caught cheaters in the past, I haven't heard anything back about any of these games. In the last game, a 15+15, the guy basically used none of his clock and just played like a 1900. Clearly, these guys have managed to figure out how to cheat and get away with it. We've mentioned it before on here: Selective engine use. They use it when they need it, throw in a minor blunder or two, and then close the game out when they feel like they've put on a good enough show. I know I'm not being cheated in *every* one of those 8 losses, but definitely at least 2 of them. 1599's don't finish 15+15's with more time on the clock than they started to people who were just beating 1800+'s the other day. It doesn't add up at all.

There's a report page for this can't you rea-... whatevs I don't wanna be rude.
I mean, I'm looking through my stats: My average rated opponent has been soaring compared to earlier and these are longer time control games. Further, most of these guys have just tons of classical games played on here. Still, I think they're playing a little too well in a few of these cases.
I think you're just tilting. The last game is just an exciting attacking game with lots of blunders on both sides. Also your chat behavior suggets you're tilting. Sometimes you just lose games your normally wouldn't, that's all in the game.

Take a deep breath, logout, come back tomorrow and enjoy the game again.
#2: Rather than just report a slew of games, I thought I'd go this route. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense but it did at the time. I've reported a couple of games. I just don't want to abuse the feature and report every losing game. As said, I don't think I was cheated in every game but I do think there was selective engine use in a couple of them.
@#4: I was on a huge upswing, just rolling along, and then lost a game or two because of minor errors and then boom ...8 in a row now. I've still been winning my biltz games but now not longer classical games which is a complete 180 from what I've been accustomed to so far. Is this part of normal progression?

Blitz game just played, 3+2 pool. Beat the 2nd highest rated opponent I've ever played. The bottom line (I think) is just as said - I'm playing better opponents regularly in classical and they flat out don't make the same mistakes as they do in blitz at or near the same rating. I still know that selective engine use is occurring but I don't think anybody's more on top of it than Lichess.

I just had a brief look over your last 8 classical games, but honestly, I don't believe any of your opponents cheated or in other words I don't believe any of your opponents wouldn't be capable of playing the moves played on his own.
I am aware that some (two to be precise) of your opponents didn't use a lot of time, which can be a sign of cheating, but it's also a common mistakes of beginners, which is why I think you shouldn't be that harsh judging players of their time usage at this level of rating.
After all to give you an useful advice, you often blundered forks or other double attacks, so instead of claiming your opponent cheated (which tends to be very human like, so I'm not really blaming you for this) I'd suggest you to work on your tactical awareness, especially of tactical threads by your opponent.
@eie24 Yeah, that was basically every loss: Fell victim to a tactic in time trouble. That just hadn't been happening to me against those same rated opponents. As said, these guys have played more games, are of a higher average rating, and play longer games. I think it's just part of me transitioning to longer games against more serious players today.

It's good that it's getting this difficult on Lichess. That the community is large enough where I can basically set up any kind of game against any kind of player, 24/7, is pretty invaluable.

I'd rather this (much) than waiting an hour for a 30+30 (never happens here. Minutes tops) and then having the game be a complete cakewalk or an early resignation by my opponent.
