Resignation in dead lost positions - your thoughts?

I haven't read the whole thread, but here's my 2 cents. I get these situations all the time. Sometimes people are courteous and resign, but many times they keep playing on. So I ask them what their plan is? Mostly no response, but it is clear they are playing for a stalemate, which is their right. However, when I am one move away from mate and tell them the move and they still won't resign, I find something else to do while the clock runs down...make a sandwich, watch the news, check my e-mail. Why do such a childish thing? Because "Never resign" is just stupid in such a situation.

If you are going to be a pain in the ass, then you deserve something in return. Most of the time they will resign (I only play classical games) rather than wait for me to move, sometimes they disconnect. I don't care. They are idiots. Period. And this helps keep my blood pressure down.
@fiveyearsunbeaten So when 2800+ says it's not dead lost but you think it is, then it's dead lost because you're the one playing it, and then miraculosly the evaluation goes from +10 to -10 to +10 to -10 within just two moves?

My point is that you should limit the "dead lost" to the positions it really applies, recognizing the players' real skills - not their opinions. For example, K+Q vs. K is dead lost if the winning player is rated eg. 2000. If his opponent thinks it is not dead lost, the opponent is just plain wrong. If the winning player is rated, idk, 800 maybe there's some realistic hope of stalemate.

The bigger point of the whole discussion is that there are situations that both players KNOW it's dead lost, it IS dead lost, and still the losing player keeps playing on. And the reason is...`?
I don’t understand your first sentence.
Im saying objectively it was dead lost, I still saw chances so I played. So did my opponent.
And yes when both players know it according to their skill then it’s rude to play on I agree
@fiveyearsunbeaten Ok, I meant:
(i) a player with a rating over 2800 thinks it's not a dead lost position.
(ii) you think it is.
(iii) because of (ii), it is a dead lost position.
(iv) because of (iii), the evaluation swinging up and down from +10 to -10 and back within a couple of moves must be a miracle.

It's ok to hope for a blunder from your opponent but there's a point after which it's mindless. I don't see your game anywhere near that point (before 35. Nf3+).
I didn’t say I think it’s dead lost I just said objectively it is.
I don’t see anyone above 2800 that claimed it’s not dead lost so I’m not sure who you are referring to
@fiveyearsunbeaten Seems we're not on the same page at all, lol. You don't think it's dead lost, you just say objectively it is. Wtf?

I'm not referring to anyone, I'm thinking about it hypothetically to see how your reasoning goes.

Eg. does it make a difference if the player saying "it's not dead lost" is rated above you or below you?
Yes that’s what I’m saying lol so we weren’t on same page it seems yes haha.
No IMO you can be 500 and delusional thinking your 2 pawns have a good chance vs his 7 pawns . If you think you can win/draw you have every right to play even if everyone else thinks it’s dead lost.
If you know you are lost and play on to let your time run out then it’s just wrong. That’s my opinion
Go make a sandwich? Why not finish the game? But that is your choice. Enjoy chess. Also, some players cannot use the chat features since it does not work on their device. I enjoy playing to the bitter end. Chess is fun to play. Thanks and Cheers!
Maybe they're hoping your internet connection drops?

Some people are more concerned with gaining rating points, than improving their chess skill...
