I am starting this topic because I am interested in how others here feel about takebacks. I will share how I feel and see if people agree or disagree. Here goes:
Casual: The way I look at a casual game is that it is just practice (like a scrimmage in American Football or like an exhibition/pre season game in American football) in other words it does not count. So I am fine with takeback requests during a casual game.
Rated games: Here is where I feel takeback requests should not even be allowed. Or to say it in another way "it should NOT be available to even ask for a takeback during a rated game. Those are my thoughts on takeback requests.
Interesting fact (as of the last time I checked) On Chess.com there is no such thing as a takeback request. But then every game on Chess.com against a human opponent is rated. You can only practice (casual) if you play against a robot. They have easy robots with low ratings to the (highest rated bot) Beth Harmon 2700 rated bot.
It is my hope that this will be an interesting topic. I anticipate diverse opinions. I find that when I play a rated game it is much more difficult to win as opposed to playing a casual game. Perhaps it is because I am more relaxed in a casual game. I am still learning about myself as a Chess player. I have a long way to go in my development as a Chess player.
