I don't understand why the solution to this puzzle is to win a knight vs a room. Seems like using the knight to threaten the queen and then fork the king and rook is better than winning the knight. Please help me understand why the rook isn't the answer.
The Bishop on H6 will take the knight and also he can go back Qe2

Ok. This is more proof that I have a hard time seeing long diagonal stuff. Didn't notice the bishop Makes perfect sense now.

You wanted to play Nd5-e3 to try for Nxc2+ and Nxa1 ? White's last move was Ne4-c5 attacking the Ba6 which is not a real threat as long as black can play Qa5+ and Qxa6 but Ne3 Bh6xe3 and you lose your knight. Winning a full piece is better than winning the exchange normally.
