Players leaving game when loosing

I always find it funny when players don't resign and leave the clock running. I never do it myself as it is extremely immature and rude, and simply shows you got upset over your loss and want revenge taking up a few minutes of the persons time. The other reason I assume is that some players will resign and not wait the remaining game time to get the win. I always wait to make sure I don't encourage such behaviour.

Lately it seems to be happening a fair bit and its becoming somewhat annoying. It goes against everything that chess is about. ie. respect for your opponent, and learning from your losses to improve your skill. What is everyones thoughts? Will this increase with higher ratiings or are higher rated players more mature. My rating is 1600-1700 usuaally and I play other 16-1800. Who are these people!!?? ;P
I only play on classical time controls (25+10 or longer) and yesterday I played a 30+30 game.
At move 10 my opponent had a very bad position due to a big mistake at the very begining of the game.
He had 28:30 remaining on his clock and he just let the clock running... 🤬
He stayed online and I did not have the possibility to claim the win. I had to wait almost 30 minutes.
This behaviour seems pretty rare but it's very annoying.

I think there is no way to avoid this shitty behaviour. So, when happens, I open spotify and listen a good playlist or watch videos on YouTube... 😉

Maybe they hope their opponent's conexion shut down and take the points on disconnection.

It make me laugh because I imagine the same thing happen in real life. During a game OTB in a Open, your opponent leave the table, quit the room and take his car to drive home without resigning. I assume that never happen. 😆😆

Online, people think they can do what they can't IRL...

By the way, here is the game I'm telling about :

Yes, this very annoying, and this is why I partly why I don't usually really long games online.
I registered 2 months ago, 165 games played on classical time control and it happened only 1 time.

It's very annoying but fortunately it's not happening too often.
do not resign when the game is lost is really a habit of shit.
It can happen to everyone once to disconnect ...
but some users simply do not know how to lose.
These people do not deserve a site like lichess. These people should be blocked.
We should all form a league of loyal and sporting users, find a way to recognize ourselves
@LanciaFulvia_HF You said : "It can happen to everyone once to disconnect ..."

I'm agree and it is the reason why, when my opponent seems to have some troubles with his connexion, I wait 10 minutes to let him a chance to come back in the game. If he does not show up in this time, I claim the draw if I think the position is equal and I take the win ONLY if I have a better position.

Anyway, if I have a bad position in the game, I never take a win I did not deserve. I let my opponent's clock running out. If he shows up, the game go on and if he don't I take the draw to avoid a undeserved win.
It happened to me as well.

I just started another game at the same time and shared with him the link of the current game so he could see that I didn't care and a few seconds later he resigned.

Also recently happened the same and I shared the link of a puzzle I was doing, and commented about the puzzle and the possible variants to tease him and soon thereafter he resigned as well.

Just use your time in something else in the meantime.
There should be an algorithm implemented in lichess, which punishes people, who leave the game because they are simply losing.

In order to avoid punishing players who have connection problems, this algorithm could be implemented in such a way that it only applies when there is a GOOD connection for someone who is not making a move anymore.

My suggestion for the punishment would be that such cheap players (1) get twice or three times negative points and, if happening about the fifth time within a week, that they (2) wont be able to play games for 3 days.
It doesn't bother Li'l Puppet because LP has tons of things to do while at the keyboard. While the perpetrator may think he or she is getting revenge, Li'l Puppet is simply enjoying life and takin' care of business (TCB) - Meanwhile the hate that festers inside of the perp's heart/soul is actually giving stress that will eventually rot the being from the inside out.
I think that instead of bitching about people leaving when loosing , one should take the opportunity to practice patience. You still get the win but thats not good enough, you have to whine about it and think of ways to punish people. Lets implement x y and z until it gets to the point where nobody wants to play anymore yeah that will show everyone.
